Obituary of Christine A Hoffman
Christine Ann Reed Hoffman, 61, of Watkins Glen, NY, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 8th, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on October 9th, 1957 in Oneida, NY, the daughter of Earl and Marion Reed of Vernon, NY. She graduated from Vernon Verona Sherrill High School in 1975.
Known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers, her free spirit, strong will, and genuine love for the life she lived. She had a gift to spread joy everywhere she went by constantly smiling and laughing, even through the physical pain she endured over the years. She was a devout woman of faith and loved God with all of her heart. No matter what life threw at her, her faith never wavered. She would passionately share the love of Jesus with anybody who wanted to listen, and she was an inspiration and a shining light to everybody who had the pleasure of crossing paths with her. She loved her church family at His Tabernacle Family Church in Horseheads, NY and “would have camped out there every week if she could have.”
Besides living for God, she lived selflessly for her family, especially her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy and each one of them held a special place in her heart. She loved to sing with them, give them back rubs until they fell asleep, watch the moon with them, and mostly, teach them about the love of Jesus.
She had a passion for life and everything she did. Some of her favorite things to do were reading, praying, writing in her journal, spending time with family, and her beloved dog Raven, and her cats. It was the little things in life that put the biggest and most beautiful smile on her face. Like dancing with the wind (see above picture), new jewelry and makeup, and helping anybody who needed it. She has helped so many people find their way and she will be greatly missed by many.
She is survived by her four children, Amber Reed, of Hornell, NY, Ashley Batjer, of Hornell, NY, Amanda (Dan) Rockwell, of Watkins Glen, NY, and Joshua (Grace) Batjer, of Elmira, NY; five grandchildren, Jesse Vincent, Eleanor Robson, Daniel Rockwell, Noah Rockwell, and Everleigh Preston; her siblings, Nancy (Leo) Bitz, of Sylvan Beach, John (Charlene) Reed, of New Hartford, David (Linda) Reed, of New London, Kathleen (Richard) Schenandoah, of Canastota, and Eric Reed; and countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father Earl, mother Marion, and brother Steven, as well as the love of her life, Ed Whitney.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., 342 Main St., Oneida.
