Obituary of Joseph A. Happle
Joseph A. Happle, 56, of 112 N. Broad St., formerly of Forest Ave., Oneida, passed away on Monday morning, January 7, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family under the care of Hospice.
He was born on September 5, 1962, in Ft. Eustis, VA, the son of Joseph F. and Sheila McCormick Happle. Joe was a graduate of Stockbridge Valley Central School, Class of 1980.
On June 27, 1987, Joe was united in marriage to Norma J. Rutan in Clockville United Methdoist Church.
Since 1988, he was a self-employed woodworker for Happle’s Restoration alongside his dad, Steve Putman, and his brother, Ed Happle. In 2005, Joe became the proprietor of the company. He formerly worked at Die Molding Corporation in Canastota.
Joe was a huge fan Miami Dolphins, the New York Mets, and Syracuse University Orange. He loved anything to do with the outdoors from camping to hunting and fishing. He enjoyed moto-cross. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his beloved grandchildren; they were the light of his life.
Surviving besides his loving wife of thirty-one years, Norma, and his mother and step-father, Sheila and Steve Putman, of Oneida; are four children, Cory Happle, of Taberg, Theresa (Chris) Desnoyer, of Verona, Joseph (Courtney) Happle II, of Oneida, and Tanya Happle, of Mechanicsville; three grandchildren, Saige Happle, Logan Happle, and Maveric Happle; seven siblings, Edward (Sue) Happle, Rose (Kyle) Ortlieb, Tessy (Scott) Thomas, Lloyd Putman, Melly Putman, Stephen Putman, Jr., and Christian Putman, all of Oneida; a brother-in-law, Daniel Piper, of Ft. Benning, GA; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Joe was predeceased by his father, Joseph F. Happle; a sister, Deborah J. Piper on July 31, 2013, and a niece, Diane E. Piper-Butler on February 11, 2016.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., where the Rev. Abigail Browka will officiate. Family and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home, 342 Main St., Oneida.
