Obituary of Allen A. Barbano

Allen A. Barbano, 78, of 428 Leonard Street, Oneida, died Saturday evening, January 5, 2019, in Rome Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.


Allen was born on August 23, 1940, in Oneida, the son of Allen R. and Caroline DeSenza Barbano.  He was a graduate of Oneida High School, Class of 1958.  He went on to attend LeMoyne College.


On February 20, 1965, Allen was united in marriage to Jean E. Corts in St. Patrick’s Church, Oneida.


Allen proudly served his country as a member of the United States National Guard


Allen was employed as a therapy aide for the Rome DDSO for twenty years, retiring in 2000.  He was formerly employed as a time keeper and industrial engineer for twenty years at Oneida Limited.


Allen was a World War II history buff.


Surviving besides his loving wife of fifty-three years, Jean; are two children, Donna Jean Barbano (fiancé, Robert Hayhurst) of Jamesville, and Christopher (Brittany) Barbano, of Eastwood; two grandchildren, Adam DeFrancisco, and Arianna DeFrancisco; four brothers, David Barbano, of Oneida, Paul Barbano, of Lemon Grove, CA, Mark (Robyn) Barbano, of Oneida, and Gary (Laura) Barbano, of Arlington, VA, ; three sisters, Barbara Barbano, of Syracuse, Karen Barbano, of Oneida, and Ann Barbano (husband, Michael George), of Burlington, VT; and several nieces and nephews.  Allen was predeceased by a brother, Robert “Bobby” Barbano.


Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Interment will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.  There are no calling hours.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., 342 Main St., Oneida.
