Dolores {Rose} Riley Sanborn was born on May 31, 1934, in Rome, the daughter of Clarence and Dorothy Cline Riley. She was on of five daughters. When she was a young girl, her family moved to Railroad Street in Camden. She was a graduate of Camden High School, class of 1952.  After graduation, Dolores worked several years as a secretary and later as office manager for Beach Lumber Co. in Rome.

On April 30, 1955, at the Camden Presbyterian Church, she was united in marriage to Richard F. “Dick” Sanborn where the Rev. Charles Chamberlain officiated.  Together, they lived on Miner Ave. in Camden in the house they built for over fifty-eight years until moving to Burleigh Apts. in Oriskany Falls in 2013.

Dee was the owner and operator of the Village Book Shop in Camden for several years.  She had previously worked as a secretary at Furbush Insurance in Camden.  When Dick owned the Camden Funeral Home, she was very active working in all aspects of it’s operation.

She was a member of the Arthur S. Moran Post American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Dee loved the outdoors.  She enjoyed long walks in the village and picnicking in Forest Park.  She and her family made many trips to the Eastern US and Canada in their camping trailer.  In later years, she spent many hours on their boat on the St. Lawrence River and at Charleston Lake in Canada.

Without any formal training, she became very accomplished in crewel and needlepoint.  Her children have many pictures hanging on their walls and pillows adorning their beds that she made for them.

Dee’s “loves of her life” were her grandchildren and she was extremely proud of who they have become and what they have accomplished.

Surviving besides her loving husband of sixty-four years, Dick; are three children, Scott (Catherine) Sanborn, of Indianapolis, IN, Stacy (John) Award, of Utica, and Saneen (Robert) Douglass, of Oneida Castle; two granddaughters, Dr. Jessica Bajohr (Dr. Ricardo Fierreras), of Puerto Rico, and Staciane (Daniel) Almonte, of Minoa; four great-grandchildren, Aden, Jordan, and Harper Almonte, and Estela Fierreras; two sisters, Aileen Campbell, of Woodbridge, VA, and Shirley Fox, of Rome; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, John Gerber, of Camden.  Dolores was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Lou Gerber on November 21, 1991, and Carol L. Yager on March 23, 2016.
