Obituary of Robert C Wilson
Robert C. Wilson, 90, of 1553 Glenwood Ave., Oneida, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018, at Oneida Healthcare.
He was born on September 3, 1928, in Oneida, the son of Ray C. and Mildred F. Carmen Wilson. Bob attended Oneida schools.
On October 16,1954, Bob was united in marriage to Marilyn M. Cook. A blessed union of fifty-eight years before her passing on October 19, 2012.
Bob proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps serving from 1947-1951.
He owned and operated Treeland Nursery on Glenwood Ave. in Oneida with his brother, Tom, for many years. He then went on to work as a landscaper for Vernon Downs, retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Cochran Memorial Presbyterian Church in Oneida Castle where he served as a Deacon.
Bob enjoyed landscaping, fishing, boating, traveling, building houses, and fixing anything that was broken. His greatest joys in life were in his family and spending time in nature.
Surviving are a daughter, Brenda DuChene, of Oneida; four grandchildren, Nadine (John) Lewis, Nicole DuChene, Aimee (Duke) Campbell, and Beth DuChene; two great-grandchildren, Jayden Lewis, and Aaliyah Lewis; his Goddaughter whom he raised as a daughter, Michele Graziano; a brother, Harry (Bernice) Wilson, of Oneida; two sisters, Mildred (Fred) Curtis, of Barryville, VA, and Carolyn Tovar, of TX; a sister-in-law, Barbara Wilson, of Newark, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas Wilson and John Wilson; two sisters, Marie Gates, and Amelia Murray.
Bob’s family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Matthew McKay at Oneida Healthcare for the kindness and compassion shown to him and they would like to thank all of his friends that stopped by and helped him in his later years.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., where the Rev. Kevin Bailey will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will take place in Stockbridge Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call on Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home, 342 Main St., Oneida.
