Obituary of Jeanne Dubois

Jeanne Dubois, of Milford, CT, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Milford Hospital with her loving family at her side.


She was born on January 6, 1943, in Scranton, PA, the daughter of the late Leopold and Gertrude Gratkowski Bisson.  Jeanne was a 1961 graduate of Milford High School and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree from St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine.  She received her RN at Norwalk Nursing School.


On February 14, 1970, Jeanne was united in marriage to Ernest A. Dubois in St. Mary’s Church in Milford, CT.


Jeanne worked at the VA Medical Center in West Haven during the Vietnam Era.  She was a Registered Nurse for over forty years.  From an instructor to a nursing supervisor, she cherished the role of caring for her patients and teaching fellow nurses.  She retired as a school nurse for the Milford School District in 2008.


Jeanne was an active member of Christ the Redeemer Church, the Order of the Eastern Star Lucia #25, the Pyremus #82 Daughters of the Nile, the American Legion Post 34 Ladies Auxiliary where she was a Past President for many years, and the Girl Scouts of America Club #38375.


Jeanne enjoyed sailing, crafting, reading, sewing, and learning anything new.  She always looked forward to her next adventure and loved to travel with her husband, especially to Orlando, FL, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Lahaina Maui, Hawaii.  Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her beloved family.


Surviving besides her loving husband of forty-eight years, Ernest; are three daughters, Cynthia (Jonathan) Cornue, of Oneida, NY, Marcy (John) Colby, of Warren, MA, and Wendy (Jesse) Batterton, of Stratford, CT; two cherished grandchildren, Xavier Cornue, and Taylor Batterton; two sisters, Darlene Mastrianna, of Lebanon, CT, and Noreen (Dean) Swanson, of Woodbury, CT; and several nieces and nephews.


A Memorial Mass will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2018, at 8:30 AM at Christ the Redeemer Church, 325 Oronoque Rd., Milford, CT.  Private interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Milford.  A Celebration of Life will be held following Mass at 10:30 AM at the Masonic Lodge, 59 Broad St., Milford, CT.  Please contact Wendy directly to RSVP for the celebration of life at (203) 668-8804.  You may view the obituary and send a message of sympathy at
