Obituary of Russell Duggins

Russell Edward Duggins, 79, of 32 Seneca Ave., Oneida, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018, at the Syracuse VA Medical Center where he had been a patient since July 18, 2018, under the care of Hospice.

 

He was born on March 17, 1939, in Gary, Indiana, the son of Francis and Oleda Beatrice Steinke Duggins.

 

Russ proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army serving from 1959-1962 as an X-Ray Specialist.

 

Russ was employed as the administrator for the Loyal Order of Moose #421 in Oneida from 1981-1989.  He then went on to work as a food counselor for the Rich Plan of Utica from 1989-1993. From 1993 to 1998, he was a customer service representative for Fraternal Composite Service of Utica.  He retired from Vantine Studios in Hamilton as a customer service representative in 2002.

 

Russ enjoyed gardening, golfing, and many different types of card games.  He was an avid New York Yankees fan and loved playing in fantasy baseball for many years.

 

Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia L. Harder, of South Bend, IN, and Glynes (Darwin) Austin, of Osceola, IN; four grandchildren, Bailey Harder, Alex (Ethan) Toro, McKenzie Austin, and Laney Austin; a brother, Estil (Sue) Duggins, of Pittsburgh, PA; a sister, Carol Barringer, of Cleveland, TN; and the mother of his children, Aileen Clindaniel, of Bremen, IN.  Russ was predeceased by a sister, Joyce Fetterer; and a brother, Kenneth Duggins.

 

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.  There are no calling hours.  Interment will take place in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, IN.  Memorial contributions may be made in Russ’s memory to the Folds of Honor Foundation, a foundation providing educational scholarships to the children and spouses of those killed or disabled while serving our nation, 5800 N.
