Obituary of Shirley Ann McKaig
Shirley Ann Widger McKaig, 83, of 114 Hagan Circle, formerly of Melbourne, FL, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Oneida Healthcare.
She was born on May 13, 1935, in Syracuse, the daughter of Raymond and Estella Blowers Widger. Shirley graduated with honors from Morrisville-Eaton High School, Class of 1952. She went on to attend SUNY Oneonta.
On May 14, 1971, Shirley was united in marriage to James R. McKaig in the First United Methodist Church in Oneida. Mr. McKaig passed away on April 4, 2010.
Shirley retired as an office manager for Harris Semi-Conductor in Palm Bay, FL, after twenty-three years in 2002.
While living in Melbourne, FL, she was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church and a former member of the Harbor City Golf Club.
Shirley was an avid golfer, loved to read and complete crossword puzzles. Shirley loved to spend time with her family, and she enjoyed her time with her Grandchildren.
Surviving are five step-children, Dennis (Kathryn) McKaig, of San Jose, CA, Douglas McKaig, of Oriskany Falls, Daryl McKaig, of Morrisville, Duane (Deborah) McKaig, of Marion, and Denise (William) Phillips, of Stephens City, VA; two sisters, Evelyn Harrison, of Oneida, and Barbara Donaldson, of Oneida Castle; two brothers, Harry (Linda) Widger, of Wampsville, and Richard (Patricia) Widger, of Odenville, AL; thirteen grandchildren, Jessica (David) Gorham, Travis (Shaylyn) McKaig, Adam McKaig, Audra McKaig, Cassidy McKaig, Noah McKaig, Asa McKaig, Orren (Chelsea) Trudeau, Olivia Trudeau (fiancé, William Evans), Alexis Sacco, Amelia Sacco, Erin Phillips, and Nicole Phillips; six great-grandchildren; and thirteen nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a sister, Janice Nelson; and a brother-in-law, Robert “Jack” Harrison.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday July 28, 2018 from the First United Methodist Church (corner of Main and Grove Sts.) Oneida with Rev. Abigail Browka and Rev. Denise Bowen officiating. Inurnment will take place in the columbarium at Valley View Cemetery Oneida. There will be no calling hours.
