Obituary of Eileen Francis

Eileen R. Francis, 90, formerly of Spring Rd., Verona, passed away with her loving family at her side on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Durhamville where she had been residing for the past few years.

 

She was born on February 23, 1928, in Rome, the daughter of Myles and Jessie Adsit O’Neil.  Eileen attended Rome schools. On October 24, 1945, Eileen was married to William F. Francis in St. Peter’s Rectory in Rome with whom she shared a blessed union of forty-six years until his death on August 12, 1992.

 

She was of the Roman Catholic faith and a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in Rome.

 

Eileen was a homemaker and owned and operated T & D’s Greenhouse with her husband for several years.  She enjoyed selling the vegetable plants and flowers they grew at local farmer’s markets.  Eileen was an avid card player and looked forward to Friday night Pitch games with her family.  She also enjoyed the challenge of a variety of puzzles, including crossword, jigsaw, and sudoku.  Eileen loved to crochet, and family members have many cherished items of her handiwork by which to remember her.

 

 

Surviving are two daughters, Carol (John) Rehm, of Durhamville, and Karen Francis Minteer, of Arvada, CO; a son, Timothy (Linda) Francis, of Winona Lake, IN; a daughter-in-law, Polly Joslin Francis, of Norco, CA; one sister, Elsie Beers of Spring Hill, FL; fifteen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  Eileen was predeceased by her husband, William; two sons, William Richard Francis, and James Franklin Francis; five sisters, Bertha, Edith, Bonny, Helen, and Mary Belle; and three brothers, Myles, Richard, and William.

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, beginning with a Prayer Service at 1:00 PM at the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Peter’s Church, N. James St., Rome, at 2:00 PM where the Rev. Philip A. Hearn will officiate.  Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rome.  Family and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home, 342 Main St., Oneida.  Memorial contributions may be made in Eileen’s memory to the American Cancer Society, https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate.html.
