Obituary of Kenneth Jackson

 

Oneida---Kenneth A. Jackson, 85, of Summit Avenue, Oneida, died on Monday afternoon, January 29, 2018, in the Waterville Residential Care Center from complications of Lewy Body Dementia where he had been a resident since June 16, 2017.

 

            Ken was born on February 9, 1932, in the Town of Camillus, the son of Frank and Ruth Steves Jackson. A resident of Oneida since 1969, moving here from Bridgeport. He attended Marcellus Schools.

 

            On September 2, 1974, he married Linda M. Dick in Dillon, SC.

 

            Ken was a long-time sales manager at McCarthy Chevrolet in Oneida and retired in 2007 from Den Kelly Auto Sales in Hamilton.

 

            He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Verona.

 

            Surviving besides his loving wife, Linda; three children; Josh (Lisa) Jackson, of Silver Spring, MD, Janet (Scott) Thurston, of Oneida Castle, and Kenneth (Ann Marie) Jackson Jr., of Oneida; eight grandchildren; Robyn (Jeff) Sanders, of Latham, Derek (Brianna) Thurston, of Sherrill, Dane Thurston, of Oneida Castle, Stacey (Chris) Yerdon, of Byron, Christian Jackson, of CO, Sara Jackson, of Canandaigua, Carter Jackson, and Caleb Jackson, of Silver Spring, MD; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Beverly Parker, of Auburn; a brother-in-law, Herbert Dick of Minneapolis, MN; one nephew, Douglas (Tracy) Parker, of Auburn; two great-nieces, one great-nephew, and several cousins.  Ken was predeceased by a brother, Donald Jackson; a brother-in-law, Leon Parker; and a niece, Debra Parker.

 

            Ken’s family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Waterville Residential Care Center in Waterville for the kindness and compassion shown to him.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at 6:00 PM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Verona, where the Rev. Katie Yahns will officiate.  Family and friends are invited and may call on Thursday prior to the service from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made in Ken’s memory to Madison County Office of the Aging, Inc., 138 Dominick Bruno Blvd., Canastota, NY, 13032.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., 342 Main St., Oneida.
