Obituary of Thomas G. Jennings

formerly of Oneida, died Wednesday February 13, 2008 in Banner Baywood Hospital, Apache Junction AZ following a six week battle with cancer. Tom was born on December 19, 1941 in Canastota New York the son of Walter and Ruth Martin Jennings. He was a graduate of Oneida High School class of 1961. He joined the Army in December 0f 1961 and was stationed in Alaska when the Good Friday earthquake hit in 1963. After he returned home he met and married Lonnee Fitzgerald on March 5, 1966. Tom held many jobs in his life but truck driving was what he enjoyed the most. He and his wife relocated to Apache Junction in January of 1989 and moved into Pacific Mobile Manor in February of 1999 where they managed the park for five years. He was most recently working as a gate monitor for Superstition Sunrise RV resort in Apache Junction. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and also enjoyed NASCAR, Dirt racing, car shows, and roller skating. He will be remembered for roller skating around Oneida with his son Scott during his visits home. He is survived by wife Lonnee and mother Ruth. Three children, Tracey of Apache Junction, Gene and Marguerite of Durhamville, Troy "Scott" and Debbie of Oneida, five grandchildren ; Jennifer, Dezaire, Troy, Noah and Cierra., three brothers; James and Mikki of Rochester, Walter of Oneida and Paul and Betty of Camden, five sisters; Grace Williamson, Shelia and Isaac White and Diane and Roosevelt Grant of Rochester, Eileen and David Wright of Endicott and Brenda Jennings of Baltimore. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded by two brothers Sheldon and David. Services were held in Arizona. Local Family and friends are invited and may call 2:00-4:00 PM Saturday March 1, 2008 at the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc. 342 Main Street Oneida.
