Obituary of Barbara Dale
died early Saturday morning, August 1, 2015, in the assisted living facility at the Lutheran Homes in Clinton, NY, where she had resided since April 2, 2012. Barbara was born on September 5, 1926, in Harrodsburg, KY, the daughter of Mark and Anna Lee Chumley Brown. She attended school in Lexington, Kentucky, and moved to central New York in 1965. On September 30, 1944, she married Daniel E. Garbry Sr. in Lexington, KY. Dan died on May 10, 1986. She then married Louis J. Dale on June 13, 1987, at the First Presbyterian Church in Oneida. Louie died on September 30, 2011. In 1987, after 23 years of service, Barbara retired from Hubbard Industries in Wampsville where she was employed as a machine operator. She had previously been employed at the former Stanton Paper Box Company in Oneida. Barb was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oneida and had served as a Deacon and Elder. She was also a member of the Canal Town Quilters, Wampsville Fire Dept. Auxiliary and had been a volunteer with the Oneida Healthcare Auxiliary. Surviving are her daughter, Rosella (Carley) Paddock of Englewood; TN, her son Daniel (Cheri) Garbry Jr, of Wampsville; her daughter-in-law Mickey Garbry of Oriskany Falls; her stepson Theodore (Maryanne) Dale of Indian Trail, NC; many grandchildren, including a special grandson, Shane and his wife, Kim, Garbry, of Oneida Castle, who were her caregivers; and several great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her son Mark C. Garbry and her sisters, Letitia Grilly, and Della Goodpasture. Barb's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and residents at the Lutheran Home for all their love and support during her stay there and to Hospice and Palliative Care for providing comfort in her final weeks. Graveside Services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday August 5, 2015 in the Valley View Cemetery, 1776 Middle Road, Oneida, with Rev. Stuart C. Wattles officiating. There will be no calling hours. Memorial Contributions may be in Barbara's memory to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY, 13413, or The Lutheran Home Activities Fund, 108 Utica Rd., Clinton, NY, 13323. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., 342 Main Street, Oneida.
