Obituary of William Precourt

passed away on Saturday morning, July 4, 2015, at Oneida Healthcare where he had been a patient for the past six days with his loving family at his side. He was born on February 3, 1938, in Syracuse, the son of William J. and Naomi Gurnsey Precourt, Sr. William achieved his GED through the US Navy and Oneida High School. William proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1956 to 1960 serving aboard the USS Independence. On June 29, 1963, William was united in marriage to Marie McCormick in St. Joseph's Church in Oneida. He was employed by Crouse Hinds Co. in Syracuse for thirty-five years, retiring in 2003. William was a member of St. Helena's Church in Sherrill. Surviving besides his loving wife of fifty-two years, Marie; are four children, William (Jamesene) Precourt, of Clockville, Scott (Lori) Precourt, of Canastota, James (Deborah) Precourt, of Tampa, FL, and Kathleen Compoli (Randy Campany), of Durhamville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Kenneth and Brenda Precourt, of New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Paul Precourt, of Utica; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Michael Seamans, of Wampsville; ten grandchildren, Alicia, Derek, Brittney, Dylan, Ethan, and Meagan Precourt, Ryan, Chad, Kyle, and Danielle Compoli; and three great-grandchildren, Zackary, Liam, and Gavyn. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday July 14, 2015 beginning with a 10:15 AM Prayer Service from the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM from St. Helena's Church 210 Primo Avenue, Sherrill, celebrated by Rev. William A. Mesmer. Military Honors will be conducted following the Funeral Mass. Interment will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery at a later date. Friends are invited and may call next Monday July 13th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home, 342 Main Street, Oneida.
