Benjamin C. Richmond, 69, of 226 Farrier Avenue, died Saturday morning, March 31, 2018, in the Katherine Luther Nursing Home, Clinton, where he had been a resident since February 23, 2018.
Ben was born on November 15, 1948, the son of Benjamin and Sharon Locke Richmond. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a graduate of Oneida High School and received an AAS Degree in Auto Mechanics from SUNY Morrisville.
Ben proudly served with the US Army as a SP4 with the 6th Battalion Air Defense Artillery Regiment in Vietnam from 1970 until he was honorably discharged in 1976.
Following his military service, he was employed for many years at Hubbard Industries in Wampsville.
Ben enjoyed fishing and loved to fly model RC aircraft.
Surviving are his mother, Sharon of Oneida, three children; Sherry (Thomas) Hicks of Autryville, NC, James Richmond of Roseboro, NC and Steven (Melissa) Richmond of Roseboro, NC, seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren, 3 brothers; Jerry A. Richmond, of Oneida, Bryan W. Richmond, of Oneida and Randy D. Richmond, of Zephyr Hills, FL and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, April 5, 2018, from the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. R. Paul Mathis officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be made in Oneida Castle Cemetery. Friends are invited and may call from 1 to 2 PM Thursday prior to the service.
