Stanley C. "Stan" Walewski

Stanley C. "Stan" Walewski, Jr., 79, of 101 Terry Meadows Dr., Waterville, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017, at Waterville Residential Care Center in Waterville after being a patient since November 17th.

He was born on August 16, 1938, in Utica, the son of Stanley C. and Michaeline Klimczak Walewski, Sr. He was a graduate of New York Mills High School, Class of 1955. He received his Associate's Degree in Engineering at Mohawk Valley Community College, Class of 1958.

Stan proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army serving from 1961 to 1963.

On September 19, 1965, Stan was united in marriage to Suzette A. Plourde in St. Mary's Church in New York Mills, NY.

Stan was employed as a mechanical engineer for General Electric in Utica for over forty years, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of St. Bernard's Church in Waterville and the Waterville American Legion Post 92.

After retirement, Stan helped out his son, Trey, at the Kanon Valley Country Club in Oneida and later at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Weedsport over the past twenty years. Stan never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone and always looked forward to going to work with his son.

Surviving besides his loving wife of fifty-two years, Suzette; are two children, Stanley C. "Trey" (Tina) Walewski, III, of Weedsport, and Amy (Ron) Moskala, of Grand Island, NY; five grandchildren, Taylor, Sydney, Tyler, Ben, and Jillian; one great-grandson, Wyatt; his wife's brothers and sisters, Barbara Daly, Linda (John) Beasman, Norman (Pansy) Plourde, Richard (Cathy) Plourde, Helen Plourde, Duke Mosakowski, and Shirley Plourde; a brother-in-law, Ed Synakowski; and several nieces and nephews. Stan was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Michaeline; and his sister, Jeanette Synakowski.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at 10:30 AM at St. Bernard's Church, 199 Stafford Ave. S, Waterville, where the Rev. Richard J. Kapral will officiate. Stan's family will receive friends at the luncheon following Mass. Memorial contributions may be made in Stan's memory to the Make-A-Wish of Central New York, 5005 Campuswood Drive East Syracuse, NY 13057. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., 342 Main St., Oneida.
